The answer is blowing in the wind....

Good morning everyone!  I am embarrassed that it has been so long since I posted, but hey, life happens.  And here in Louisiana it has been happening.  Mamas Quilt Shop is still standing despite Hurricane Isaac rolling thru here and dumping a whole lot of water in our lap.

This is all gone now, but there are still quite a few people in Louisiana under water and our prayers go out to them.

Brenda, along with her mother, daughter, grand-daughter and sister made their bus trip out west along with 30 or so other quilters.  They made it to 8 quilt shops and brought back goodies.  BP and I stayed behind and worked our fingers to the bone...yeah, right!

But they were barely back when we had the Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler Shop Hop.  For those of you not from around here that translates loosely to "Let the Good Times Roll".  And that is what everyone did.  There were 9 shops in South Louisiana involved and I have never been able to go, but it must have been a blast for the one's who did!  They sure seemed to be having fun.  I did not get any pictures and I truly regret that because we met some fun ladies and gentlemen during those three days.  One group from the Sorento-Gonzales area had us in stitches (no pun intended) when they left.  They are all kin and I would love to attend one of their meetings....I bet there is never a dull moment.

Brenda invited me to go along to the quilt shoppes meeting the following Saturday.  Even though Hurricane Isaac was threatening they had a good meeting, made some plans for shop hop 2013 and enjoyed getting the winner's baskets ready.  I was jealous...you should see the goodies they won!

And I just had to show a few pictures of what our wonderful quilters have been inspired to do...

Look at this twister!  Wow!  I told her it was easy!

And look at this take on Brenda's 1600 quilt!  So creative.

Nydia, Brenda's newest employee made the cutest rag quilt..

It so inspired me....I couldn't wait to make one....so I did....

Oops!  See the mistake....seam ripper here I come, but when I finished and turned that row around I was thrilled with my little rag quilt.  It was my first rag quilt, but it won't be my last.  It was so nice to be finished when I put that last row on.  All I had to do was wash and dry it.  And soft, oh so soft.

So Isaac hasn't stopped us...just slowed us down a little.

Quilters.... get ready, there's a clearance coming.....

I did it!

I talked Brenda at Mama's Quilt Shop into having a clearance sale!  I am going to give you a sneak peek....then starting June 1st....let the fur fly!  Now these are not the newest fabrics, but they are beautiful and may be just what you are looking for at a great clearance price!  I know for a fact that she is working on some fat quarter bundles of these beautiful floral fabrics at a ridiculously low price.  These are going to be limited so you will want to check back weekly or even daily to see what she is coming up with.  She has so many new fabrics coming in....something has got to go!

Starting tomorrow,

June 1st,

jump over to Mama's Quilt Shop, and see what the deal is going to be!
She wouldn't tell me....she said I would have to wait just like everyone else!  (Of course that could be because....you see that fabric in the bottom picture on the right....I screamed I want all of it!)  She hinted at fat quarter packages as low as $2.00 per fat quarter, free shipping if you buy 2 or more bundles and a free gift with the purchase of 3 or more!
She was thinking so fast, I couldn't keep up!

Give us your thoughts

.....she is going to be having sales all month....florals, children's fabric, solids....
when you buy fabric, do you like fat quarters, half yards, full yards, kits....
tell us what you would like to see......
every Saturday I am going to pick one winner from that week's posts and send them a free gift....could be a book, a selection of FQ's, a yard of fabric or a tool!

What are you waiting on....

....leave me a post and next Saturday, June 8th, I will pick a winner of 5 FQ from this beautiful floral collection.

Want a second chance to win?  Tell others about the sale on your blog and come back and tell us about it.  I'll put your name in the hat again!

I am still relaxing!

But I did promise to let you know about our mini quilting retreat!

It is really hard to think about quilting when you step out on a balcony to this view.  But after the first hour of oohing...and aahing...we got in gear, unloaded the truck, set up shop and got ready to sew.

It's a good thing we were only staying 3 days!  We might have needed a U-Haul for a week!

We had brought tables with us because it was our first time here and we didn't know what work surfaces we would have, but we didn't need them....huge glass dining room table covered with a quilt held all 4 sewing machines with room to spare.  Ironing board, iron....already there.

We were ready to sew!

Well....three of us did...this one couldn't stay away from the water...

She even talked her mother into getting her feet wet....

but eventually we did get down to work....

well....okay....most of us did....

I made my 1600 quilt out of the variegated fabric and finished a small twister mug rug for my secret pal's gift.....

BP started and finished this precious child's quilt called 8 is Just Enough (you can find the pattern at Mama's Quilt Shop)
and Brenda.....started and almost finished this...Zanzibar....

It is beautiful and you can buy the kit in the shop.  Thank goodness the master bedroom was large enough for her and I to lay out quilt tops on the floor so we could see them as we put them together.

I laid out and got half way finished with this bright and cheerful quilt for a shop sample...
this is one of the Take 5 patterns from the great book by Kathy Brown of the Teacher's Pet.

This weekend I will put the 6 inch border on it and it will be ready to go.  This kit can also be bought at the shop and on the website.

We were leaving at noon on Tuesday to  head back to the real world and I always get up earlier than everyone else....so I took my coffee and walked the beach to snap a few last pictures.  Anyone that knows me....knows I love any body of water attached to a beach....and I have tons of pictures to prove it.....

And this little guy was there to say goodbye......I think!
